Help save kitties in ukraine
This year the Cincinnati Cat Club is hosting a judge from war torn Ukraine, Elena Podprugina. She will be judging on Sunday November 30th, 2025. We asked how we could help and below is her reply.
In my city Kramatorsk, there is a shelter – the Charitable Foundation “Friend.” It has been officially registered since 2008. This shelter is for both cats and dogs.
Currently, volunteers and soldiers bring abandoned cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies to this shelter from towns and villages that are directly in the war zone. The animals are emaciated, and some have injuries. Additionally, animals that are left alone after the death of their owners also end up here. At the shelter, these animals receive medical treatment and are rehomed. Animals that cannot be adopted are later sent to shelters located in other regions of Ukraine (far from the front line).
Currently, there is active fighting in our region, and animals keep arriving, so the costs for food and veterinary clinics are very high.
I know that volunteers and volunteer organizations from Ukraine and Europe help them. They helped especially well in the first year of the war, but now less so. They will be glad for any help you can provide.
